Which Antenna is right for me?

There are many external antennas that you can use with your CarKit but here are the FACTS on which ones to use. I ONLY recommend and use RF Industries antennas. They are the antennas i use to do all my map testing. I have tried to set out this page as simply as possible. Yes i did the drawings, as you can tell I'm no artists!

For the best reception i recommend NOT to use any On / Through Glass antennas. All the antennas listed below are NOT On / Through Glass type.

QUICK GUIDE

Very Hilly to Hilly Medium-Hilly to Medium Flat (This is the best all rounder) Flat to Very Flat
RFI 1.5dB Ant RFI 3 dB Ant RFI 5 dB Ant

LOW GAIN ANTENNER (1.5-3dB Gain)

A low gain antenna is best for hilly places as its radiation pattern (The blue in the picture) has a more balloon like shape, making penetration into/out of valleys and over hills possible. It is a very good all rounder antenna, Giving brilliant up close coverage and medium long range capability. Here is a picture showing how the antenna works. If a tower is anywhere in the blue you will have coverage.

HIGH GAIN ANTENNER (5dB Gain)

A high gain antenna is best suited for flat terrain, like out west and in the country. It give the longest rang from a tower (35KM) but it doesn't work were there are allot of hills between the antenna and the mobile phone tower.

Here is a picture show were you should use this antenna:-
