Globalstar 
Globalstar Globalstar enables users with dual mode Globalstar/GSM 900 mobile phones to use there mobile when outside the range of the Land/Tower based VodaFone Australia network. The mobiles will instead talk to a constellation of LEO (Low Earth Orbit) Satellites. This enables you to use you mobile phone anywhere in the world! (As long as you can see the sky.)

A very interesting mobile, I don't think VodaFone will be selling this in AU. Its a Tri-Mode, GS / CDMA (as used by Telstra) / AMPS.
